You may be interested to know that the "DISC READ ERROR" most first gen 
PS2s develop are caused by a simple laser alignment issue and can be 
fixed - http://www.tweak3d.net/articles/ps2repair/

Many of these units sell on eBay for cheap (although you will pay about 
$15 on shipping alone, even though it doesn't cost that much that's 
eBay). If any of you have a PS2 like this, try it out!

Also be sure to get a regular PS2, not a PSTwo, if you want the 
possibility of using HDLoader (not that PSTwo can't do it, PSTwo is just 
a lot harder or slower at it depending on what you do). HDLoader is 
awesome - and if you get the hardware I can hook you up with the 
software on your memory card.
