[LAFF] Monster, from bowling

Out of slight frustration at the fact that I can't get it running on my linux machine under wine, I tried it on my oldish windows machine. Alas, it does not work on this one either. I get a splash screen and an error box with the following text in it:
?????? 'monster.exe' ?????? 00409E45 ?????? 00000000 ?????????????????.

I get an error box on linux as well. I don't remember if it's the same, but it also involves a bunch of question marks and, if I remember right, 'monster.exe' in it.

What are the requirements for this game. I'm thinking that the same solution is required to get it working on both windows and on linux under wine. I'm probably missing something, since these aren't exactly the newest machines in the world.

It's called Monster.exe the game itself is still almost completely in
Japanese though.
