Fish & game are what they are they will do what ever possible to do away
with things like that unless you work for some kind of law enforcement such
as a place up her in Montana or hey get Jack Hanna on your side to see if he
will help you out oh wait he only does that if you are into killing your
spring of the last years crop same as Jeff Corwin they support a place up
here in Montana that kills there animals to make room for the following
years babies to come along. any one know how hard it is to raise snow
leopard cubs yes it can be done but if you dont know what you are doing they
die and Jack Hanna has gotten several for this company in Montana. I have
lost all the animals that I had due to Fish & Game and they dont care who
they or what they hurt in the process

Hi All,

Fish and Game in Calif are proposing to implement regulations on hybrid
cats in Calif. There is going to be a hearing on October 1st, 2009. They
want to implement these new regulations on November 5th, 2009. That is only
6 weeks away. This is very bad as Calif tends to be a state that others look
to. Other surrounding states may follow suit. We need to fight this and
fight hard as we only have a very very short time to do so.

Here is the contact person at F & G.

Enforcement Branch at Fish and Game

I urge anyone that can, <its best if your a calif resident or have an
address> call and leave a message opposing this new regulation on hybrids.

I have attached all the PDF files from their website on this new proposed
regulation.

I am thinking we should bring some lower generation Savannahs to the hearing
as long as they are very well mannered of course.

Here is all they are giving us at the moment.

III. Description of Regulatory Action:

(a) Statement of Specific Purpose of Regulation Change and Factual Basis
for Determining that Regulation Change is Reasonably Necessary:

The Fish and Game Code and its implementing regulations do not contain
a general section regulating hybrid plants and animals. A fish, mammal,
or plant that is a hybrid of two or more species is not a specific species
and therefore is not addressed within most regulations and code sections
referring to bag limits, seasons, take, possession limits and mere
possession. Examples are a hybrid between bass species (i.e.
largemouth and spotted bass), hybrids of exotic cats, and hybrid canines
such as coy-dogs. Some individuals have attempted to exploit this
loophole in the law, by claiming that their animals are hybrids, and
therefore no regulation applies to their take or possession.

Although some hybrids occur naturally, further hybridizations of species
are expected as scientific methods improve. Examples of potential
problem areas include abalone, fin fish, falconry, waterfowl, aquaculture,
and restricted species. The proposal would not only help regulate true
hybrids but would help in preventing violators from using a "hybrid
defense" by causing the Department to be forced to prove a specific
animal is indeed a specific species and therefore regulated. The proposal
would give wardens latitude in enforcing laws without having to contend
with a biological grey area as it relates to proof of species. An agency
which enforces plant and animal laws is placed at a disadvantage if it
lacks regulations to reasonably address hybrid issues.
