[FEL-L] SF Zoo safety questioned again

The night the polar bear Ulu tried to "escape" was the night of the day of  
the re-opening of the zoo. It had started rain hard at noon that day, and  
probably the zoo was short-handed as it has been for the pasted year or so. Had  
they brought the polar bear inside at 5 pm (night fall) perhaps it wouldn't 
have  tried to pole-vault out of it's enclosure, thinking no one was there to let 
it  inside it's sleeping chamber for the night....
 
There is a double "cage" for the new leopards. The first cage is steel  
cyclone fencing I believe. The only way Gurka could've escaped is if that  fencing 
was broken or cut. 
 
I am a zoo member and also a zoo-parent of Kimani and Carl, twin lion cub  
babies born 2-7-03. They are nearly 5 years old, and still  adorable.
