The film has video from their act, pictures of their compound, video of the young cats, and eventually the story of the two deaths that took place there. It's on in about an hour tonight, here, and probably other times - check your schedule. -- Gary Breuckman From lmorin67 at earthlink.net Fri Dec 26 17:26:31 2008 From: lmorin67 at earthlink.net (Laura Morin) Date: Fri Dec 26 17:27:13 2008 Subject: [FEL-L] Apache and Billy-Bob Xmas video Message-ID: <380-2200812526232631359@earthlink.net> I had mentioned Lymes a while back.. here is video of our cougar,, and Bobcat.. Apache the cougar had what we are pretty sure was lymes. Before this, we could not go in with him, but he was sweet from the outside of the cage.. now.. since he cant move too fast and has little vision, we are able to be with him. He appears to be doing 'ok'. his medical bills are adding up a bit, but Dawn is keeping him comfortable with meds etc. If anyone needs a tax write off.. I have a good cause...:-) Thought I'd share.. and PLEASE,, if you have ticks use Frontline.. We were ,but not often enough. Dawn posted this video on a Bulldog Forum she is on. :-) To everyone.. As some of you may know I put my last cougar to sleep a while back. Its been hard to live without them after almost 30 years always having at least 3 or more living with me. I have had to fight some real urges to get another kitten but I don't think I could stand the thought of 25 more years worrying, if they would out live me! Here goes.....when I put my last one to sleep she was mentally healthy however her kidneys were failing and she was having trouble with weight. I made 3 appointments with the vet and canceled, but finally I knew I could not let her suffer any so I had the vet come to my farm and wait out front, out of sight and sound so as to not upset her in anyway. He gave me the tranq and I went to her and let her out into the yard, she was loving and purring I gave her the shot she never flinched (small needle), just got groggy and lay down as if to sleep climbing in my lap. I called to the vet and he came out back and checked her, he said she was out she lay very limp. He prepared the pink solution and started putting it in her vein, half was injected as her head lay in my lap she started terribly gnashing her teeth and made sounds, but the rest of her body was completely limp. I was so upset at this and the vet never charged me for the farm call or anything else. I have since found out some tranqs only paralyze the body, but the mind can be fully awake. I am still shaken by this incident. Please people make sure the tranqs you are using have been tested on people and they make the animal lose consciousness, not just paralyze them as well as they are given the right dosage for their weight! I have read where people have even been given the wrong anesthesia have been fully awake during surgical procedures feeling everything that's being done to them. The vet did not even try to say it was a normal reaction, muscle twitches or some such nonsense, we both knew it was not normal. I loved my cats dearly and all lived to be around 25 years old and I miss them very much, but this has haunted me for a while now and I want to share so others will be aware that this type of thing can possibly happen. I still have my servals and one is close to 15 so I am soon again to be faced with a sorrowful decision, however this time I will be more informed as I hope all that read this post will try to be also when faced with putting any animal to sleep. Love to all my baby's here and wherever else they may be now. Lynn **************Don't be the last to know - click here for the latest news that will have people talking.
