[FEL-L] TV - Something I find interesting

The "California Comment" is a fairly new stipulation (I could be mistaken, but heard from a fairly reliable individual) that any animal related activity regarding nontraditional pets on television or any public performance display is regulated by the Department of Fish and Wildlife (or whatever California's department is called, if I'm mistaken as to the actual name). And as part of the performance the comment must be made that "these animals do not make good pets" or words to similar effect. Even if you have a domestic ferret, as a regulated species you have to tell people it doesn't make a good pet even though it's clearly a domestic ferret. Kalifornia polee-ticks at its best.

Hi there everyone....
Just thought I'd lighten the load a bit lately.
Has anyone besides me caught the new show on the CW called "Life is Wild"? If so, what do you think of it? I like it. Not your ordinary cheesy family show. So far the writing is alright even if a bit predictable. I _think_ it's actually shot "on location" in South Africa, if one of my SA contacts is correct... unless there's another production underway in the freestate (it's a bit of a ways away from him). Anyway... I have digital copies of all 7 broadcast episodes (the site shows an 8th episode... hopefully there's more). Hopefully it survives the writer's strike and doesn't get sucked down later by "hurry up and make something" writing if the strike breaks. Anyway.... here's the link to the show's site at the CW.

And another aside... Just before the writers' strike happened, Jay Leno had on a gentleman from Animal Planet that brought with him both a tiger cub and a lioncub, allowed them to romp together, and forgot to give the "California Comment" even when Jay lightly prodded for it with a scripted opening. I have digital (AVI) copy of that segment available also... it's a very large file, though. (then again, the Life is Wild ep files are around 700Mb apiece). Anyway... Just thought I'd find out what others thought.
