Gloria,
A few years ago, an AR covered the dental surgery of one of our
tigers. The tiger, a white tiger, had weak lower canines, probably from
inbreeding. He probably broke his teeth playing, which he is very good
at! When the news story came out, it was entitled, 'Tiger loses teeth in
quest for freedom'. It grossly misquoted the vets who did the work (one
of who I am going to visit in a few minutes with one of my own cats, who
is sick). The zoo raised a big stink. The reporter was fired later that
day, and some background research showed she had a history of doing
this. The newspaper printed a tiny retraction the next day. However,
they did run a series of positive stories on the zoo in the next weeks.
