[FEL-L] Saving the Tiger

Many of us had seen this writing on the wall a long time ago. The amount of rote natural habitat necessary to provide adequate resources for the prey animals that the tigers eat means that massive blocs of land are required for EACH tiger, and that they have to be peripherally attached to several other tigers' territories to assure natural procreation. Realistically I can reasonably predict the extinction in the wild of all but a handful of tigers. The AZA's SSP is such a boondoggle it is incapable of reasonably producing enough animals to maintain the current level of Panthera tigris in AZA facilities (they're actually doing a drawdown as it is!) which leaves only private breeders and keepers, which the AZA itself and other functionary groups are trying to diminish in number citing that the AZA knows best (when apparently they've made several gross errors in the assumptions that are the foundation for their SSP for not only Panthera tigris, but Panthera leo and quite
likely a few other species including the Cheetah.
But that's just life how I see it. Hope I'm wrong, but....that doesn't happen as often as many wish it would.

It will be a shame if this happens. We are losing the Tiger. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/world/20071210-1355-disappearingtigers.html
