Well, we know there are a number of AR people in USDA. It should be no
surprise to see them starting to flex their muscles. The first act was
DeHaven/HSUS premiere of the big cat policy book back in the 90s.

Now they are treating them like they have been treating housecats.

Next we should expect mandated neutering, just as has been done where
domestic no-declaw laws were passed. After that it is just a matter of time
until the "problem" is solved. No babies, no long-term problem. Nobody
outside of a SSP will be allowed to propagate them.

ASA/TAOS/HSUS/PETA/IFAW's dream is realized.

No more photos, no more exhibitors, no more breeders, no more sales, no PITA
work for USDA. They can spend their energies counting chickens and cows.
They never wanted to be in the exotic business to begin with.

Big cats are gone from circuses, no longer needed for movies, S&R are out of
show business, etc. so the pressure to allow the use of these animals is
going away.

The time to fight was years ago but everybody agreed with at least one
"anti" position and wouldn't band together with "those people" so the march
went on, success by success. Some actually joined the anti-owner people to
hurt others. Now the regulatory agency that all were forced into has a slave
class to order around and will proceed to do so. What will/can they do but
obey?

There's no "out" for 90% of the people. If you are USDA you must obey
master. You can't opt out by law in most places. It was a trap and many
embraced it. It will not get better or more reasonable. Power corrupts and
this is absolute.

There's a lot going on that hasn't been mentioned on the lists yet. Their
legal department has been very active and creative this year too. Lots of
licenses are being pulled for old and "forgotten" minor write-ups that are
being brought back to life and having fines and suspensions levied.

This is just the beginning.

But remember, many of you wanted this and you can't have the scorpion
without the sting.

Ray
