Cougars, Bear Found at Local Farm

MAQUOKETA, IA - The Jackson County Sheriff's Department has found some 
unusual animals at a Maquoketa, Iowa farm. The 55 animals include four cougars, a 
black bear and eleven horses.
Officials from four local counties' human societies have taken the animals 
into custody to determine if the animals were neglected. No charges have been 
filed pending reports from veterinarians.
The farm on 81st Street in Maquoketa belongs to Randy and Pam Garien.  They 
say the animals were well cared for, and they don't understand why they were 
taken away.
