[FEL-L] San Francisco Animal Handler mauled by Tiger

1% of the cats weight being fed... thats about right. Of course we all know how articles get things wrong... considering that most captive cats are over weight and over fed,, they sit around and sleep all day and aren't out hunting and protecting a territory. They dont need the large amounts they they would get in the wild. 
What is wrong is that the cat could even reach thru the cage at all and with the public only 4 feet back. I remember going there as a child. It was awsome to watch and 'feel' the cats roar. Im sure with a  little re design,, it will be open again.

I'm curious about the small amount of food these large felids are fed. The article said 3-5 pounds each? I feed more than that to my wolves. Our tigers and lions get 20-25 pounds of meat. Perhaps the tiger was trying to get more food? A tiger cannot possibly be satisfied with only 3 pounds of meat.
