[FEL-L] Question for all

This is about a cruel and unjust action (declawing cats) taken against an
animal/s that will affect them for the rest of their lives. It can, has, and
will continue to be a problem with cats no matter what vet performs the
surgery. It can go wrong and it has many times. There is no good way to do it.
Perhaps there is a less painful and often more successful way to do it, but the
best vets can screw it up and have. The AVA did not make the highly profitable
surgery unethical because they thought it sounded good. They (the AVA)
fought over it for more than 15 years to make the only right decision, that it is
painful to the animal and many animals have a bad reaction no matter who,
when, or how the surgery is done.
What looks alright now may be a disaster in 10 to 20 years.

Trained cats do not scratch often if ever. If you can not Handle them or
their scratches, from their claws, leave them alone. It's not fair to harm them
because of your ignorance. A few people on this list think they might know
better than the choice of many hundreds of veterinarians, zookeeper's and
trainers that voted to stop declawing. I can only imagine this choice is made
from ignorance and inexperience. So many choices people make about animals are
just about emulating and copying what they heard works, but this rarely
works out best for the animal.
